Abstract
Background & Objectives: Treatment of pre-school children who stutter (CWS) can be categorized into direct and indirect treatments according to treatment goals and targets. However, parental involvement is necessary for the treatment of pre-school PWS regardless of treatment strategy. The purpose of the current study was to explore experiences of parents of pre-school CWS taking part in indirect treatment.

Method: A qualitative research design was used in the current study for analyzing treatment involvement experiences of pre-school CWS. Interviews of six mothers were analyzed following the grounded theory.

Results: Four clusters were identified from the interview: changes in emotions of mothers of pre-school CWS taking part in the treatment, changes in treatment goals, changes in cognition toward greater agency, and factors influential for treatment.

Discussion & Conclusion: The results from the present study suggest that treatment of pre-school CWS be comprehensive. In addition, a change toward ¡°positive¡± responsibility of parents is also important in stuttering treatment.
